Blog Reflection post
Why I Chose Blogger For My Blog
January 20th, 2025
I started this assignment by looking through the various resources provided in the LIS724 class resources website. I looked through the provided resources on where I could create and post the blog we will be curating throughout this semester. I had some familiarity in web design having used google sites before. But I wanted to try something new, a website I've never used before. But I wanted to be realistic about what I and my technology can handle. So, I decided against trying any of the podcast resources. as I don't believe my computer would be able to easily record a podcast episode. It's an old computer and the microphone is testy and doesn't always pick up my voice when I'm recording. If I was to try a podcast blog I would be spending hours fiddling with my commuter trying to get it to work. And that is time I can't afford to waste.
So I settled on looking at the various blog creation websites suggested on the resources website. I chose the platform blogger as it seemed like it would be easy to navigate and use while creating the blog. Being easy to navigate and utilize will help me serve myself and patrons. As I can make updates to my blog more frequently if I don't have to worry about overly complicated editing. It allows my readers to keep themselves updated without having to worry about large gaps between blog posts. This source can help me with my PLN because I can use various features like allowing reader comments, surveys, and embedding images and links to engage readers and encourage them to expand their knowledge beyond the blog. By engaging patrons I make them feel seen and like their views matter. By allowing input I can open the blog to exploring various points of view. I will also help me improve my skills as a librarian if I have my professor and fellow students offering their opinions and cinques. This way I know what my strengths and weaknesses are and what I can improve on.
Chloe, I also chose to use Blogger for this assignment, and one of my main reasons was similar to your reason for the simplicity of it. I wanted something that would be easy to update and post on to help make sure that I was actually getting my assignments done, and then could be used in the future as well. I agree that allowing comments will help with reader engagement and could lead to recognizing different points of view. I thought your blog was very well laid out, and looked interesting. I think you have done a great job so far!
